Essence of the painters work

The own history of my painting is marked by the search for the essence of the painterly work. And so it is precisely the many attempts, the dead ends and errors in their failure that have made my fundamental painterly idiosyncrasy increasingly visible. It is the overpainting, i.e. the destruction of my own paintings, which takes place again and again, which makes the indestructible visible in my work. It is this belief in the steadfast truth of painting that motivates me. It is in this spirit that I always set out to fail with my ideas, figurative or abstract concepts and the thoughts about the radicalisation of my work in the picture, in order to show what is substantial to me, the essence. Painting as a truly colouful event makes exactly the essential visible.
